Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe®) is a methodology for agile management and workflow that helps organizations scale Lean and Agile practices.
The SAFe® Product Owner/Product Manager training prepares participants to manage value delivery in Lean enterprises. Participants will learn the key factors influencing effective work as a Product Owner or Product Manager within an organization. They will also discover how to use Lean practices to plan and execute Iterations and Planning Intervals (PIs) effectively.
There are no formal prerequisites. However, the following are recommended:
- Completion of the Leading SAFe® course
- Experience working in a SAFe environment
- Familiarity with Lean, Agile, or similar methodologies

Exam and certification
- purchase of the exam mandatory, in accordance with the Accreditor’s requirements,
- multiple-choice, single-response questions test,
- number of questions: 45,
- pass threshold: 80% (36 out of 45 possible points),
- language of exam: English,
- duration: 90 minutes,
- form: online unsupervised,
- the exam is held on the SAFe® Studio platform,
- closed book – no use of materials,
- validity of the exam voucher: 60 days,
- validity of the certificate: 1 year,
- the first approach to the exam is included in the price of the training, as long as the approach to the exam takes place within 30 days of completing the course,
- in case of a negative result in the exam, the participant can use the retake option. A second attempt at the exam is possible immediately after the completion of the first, the third after 10 days, and the fourth after 30 days. Each additional attempt is paid separately,
- the participant who scores the necessary number of points in the exam is awarded the international certificate in electronic form.
As part of the purchased foundational training*, each participant is entitled to take the exam twice, provided that both attempts occur within 60 days of completing the course.
The second attempt can be taken immediately after the first one and does not require any waiting period.
In the case of an unsuccessful exam result, the participant may purchase an exam retake.
The third exam attempt (first retake) can be taken immediately after the second, the fourth attempt (second retake) – after 10 days from the third, and the fifth attempt (third retake) – after 30 days from the fourth attempt.
Each additional attempt is subject to a fee and requires a 30-day waiting period.
A purchased retake remains valid for 60 days from the date of purchase, as long as the exam is offered by the Accreditor.
The exam retake must be purchased independently by the participant via the SAFe Studio portal.
*Foundational trainings include: Leading SAFe®, SAFe® Scrum Master, SAFe® Product Owner / Product Manager, SAFe® for Teams, and SAFe® DevOps.

Note
The SAFe certification path does not enforce a specific development path — participants may attend any courses of interest without completing prerequisites. However, the first 2 to 4 hours of each course typically include an introductory segment (depending on the course) designed to align participant knowledge. This foundational content is repeated in all SAFe trainings and is a standard practice across all training providers.
